Jacqueline Christoph: Southern Italy. Dumont Travel Guide. 2021*

A well-made travel guide that has been very cleverly designed in terms of content and visuals. There is compact information on the one hand, but also more in-depth information about the region from nature to economy.
Right at the beginning, in addition to a short introduction for the impatient, there are tips for further reading, brief overviews of the region and tour suggestions.
The mix of well-arranged brief information and in-depth details is convincing, as is the selected photo material. The various facets of southern Italy are shown visually very carefully without only depicting the well-known motifs.
The cities and regions are presented in a compact but concise manner with a short introduction, important sights, tips on accommodation, food and events.
A large travel map for Campania, Basilicata, Apulia and Calabria is also not missing. A clear work, we recommend it as an Apulia travel guide for anyone who is also planning a trip to the neighboring regions.

It's a beautiful cookbookA Modo Mio. Favorite dishes and kitchen stories from Italy* by Alessandra Dorigato. Alessandra likes to cook well, with creativity and in an uncomplicated way and so she makes what many have long wanted from Italian cuisine, delicious recipes with a little twist. In addition to all the fine recipes, we learn a lot about Italian cuisine and so we can be inspired by the recipes or simply read little stories about the recipes from cover to cover and find out how to prepare individual recipes differently, combine dishes or what you can do with the remaining proteins in the cake recipe or where the recipe comes from. So Alessandra cooks her way across Italy, we find Apulian with the “Parmigiana die melanzane” or “Impepata di cozze”.

A very special cookbook is the one fromKatie Parla: Italia Amore Mio. Traditional recipes from Italy's south.*Katie Parla is a food journalist, American, with Italian ancestry, who now lives in Rome. The book contains recipes for over 80 dishes from the south of Italy. Strictly speaking, the delicacies all come from Meridione, namely: Molise, Campania, Apulia, Basilicata and Calabria. The Mezzogiorno would include Sardinia and Sicily. The recipes are divided into 9 categories: 1. Antipasti - starters, 2. Zuppe e Minestre - soups and stews, 3. Pasta - noodles and their sauces, 4. Pesce - fish, 5. Carne - meat, 6. Contorni - salads and side dishes, 7. Pane, Focaccia e Pizza - bread, focaccia and pizza, 8. Dolci - desserts, 9. Liquori e co*cktail - liqueurs and co*cktails.
There is a lot of southern Italian joie de vivre packed into it and you can also learn more about the regions, the typical cuisine, special features of the recipes and possible variations. There are around 10 purely Apulian recipes. The book feels wonderful to touch, great print quality, lots of beautiful pictures, feels really good and heavy in the hand and there is also a red ribbon. An ideal book to give as a gift – to yourself or other Apulia enthusiasts and southern Italy fans.

Cookbook: Italia a Mano - The secrets of real Italian street food. Polpettine, arancini, stuffed squid, cannolis and beignets. Real Italian cuisine rediscovered...[read more]

Shades of Bacchia:Italia a Mano. The secrets of real Italian street food.*
How wonderful: a cookbook just about street food - about Italian snacks, spuntini, savory to sweet. There's a lot of Puglia in this book by the Australian-Italian author Paola Bacchia: Panzerotti, Scagliozzi, Bombette Pugliesi, Focaccia Barese, Calzone con cipolla e olive, Rustico Leccese and Tarallini Pugliesi.

It is not just a cookbook, but there is also short information, stories and reports before the recipes and in between. The great thing about the recipes: largely uncomplicated and delicious, with ingredients that you have at home or can get quickly.
There are 10 chapters: from pizette and crostini, to fried savory foods, panini, fish and seafood to sweet treats, esi creams and sauces and basics.
The recipes are authentic, but every now and then the author makes improvements, such as additional sauces and mayonnaise. You can make delicious things even more delicious, further refine traditional family recipes and turn them into something very special.
The selection of recipes is diverse: in addition to meat dishes, there is a lot of vegetarian, vegan and even gluten-free snacks to be found, although most of the dishes are filling and high carb.
The journey goes through all of Italy. Frico from Friuli and cannoli from Sicily, with a little from each region in between: like Florence, Rome, Emilia Romagna, Marche and Abruzzo.
